President-elect Barack Obama spoke to nearly 250,000 people in Grant Park in Chicago after winning the presidency in 2008.

Evanston resident Jane Fulton Alt and her son, Drew Alt, were among the people in the crowd that night. 

“It’s so interesting to be taken back to that now,” Fulton Alst said. “I think it just is so poignant and painful at the same time because of where we are now with the country. I feel incredibly grateful to have been there that night.”
