By Judith Ruiz-BranchIllinois supporters of President Barack Obama who want to go to his election night rally will have to earn it.
Obama’s campaign is recruiting volunteers to go door-to-door in Wisconsin this coming Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Volunteers who knock on doors for at least two days, as part of the “Get out the Vote” effort, will qualify to receive election night tickets at McCormick Place. Regional Press Secretary at Obama for America, Ben Finkenbinder, said this is a great way for Chicago residents and Illinois supporters to join their efforts.
“We’re excited that we’re going to have election day once again in Chicago,” Finkenbinder said. “To make sure that we’re using all of our resources, supporters and volunteers, turning out every last vote, we’re going to use our official watch party in Chicago as another organizing tool to help re-elect President Obama.”
Campaign officials say they will contact volunteers once their shifts are completed. They say tickets are limited and will be given away on a first-come first-serve basis.
