Barack and Michelle Obama are donating $2 million dollars of their personal money to summer youth job programs. Barack Obama says this is the former first couple’s way of responding to violence in Chicago. The announcement was made at an unveiling of pictures and a vision of the Obama Presidential Center at the South Shore Cultural Center on Wednesday.

The Obamas said they would donate $1 million to each of the two programs, One Summer Chicago and the Chicagoland Workforce Funder Alliance.
