The Trump administration is blaming Iran for attacks last week on Japanese- and ­Norwegian-owned oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. President Trump has insisted that a video released by U.S. Central Command confirms Iranian involvement in the attacks, which Iran has denied. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the United States “immediately jumped to make allegations against Iran — [without] a shred of factual or circumstantial evidence.” His statement comes amidst renewed U.S. economic pressure on Iran; President Trump has withdrawn from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions on the country.
