Alderman Ed Bus (53rd) is entering the final week of campaigning for Chicago mayor. It’s not looking great, but he did go up in the polls last week, according to nbcchicago.com. The oddsmakers have Bus at a 9,999 to 1, which is up from 100,000 to 1 from the week before.

But Bus is making strides. Last week, the alderman was invited to Christopher Piatt’s live variety show “The Paper Machete.” The Machete has a host of writers who live-read their work on a Saturday afternoon in Ricochet’s, a Lincoln Square bar. On this particular Saturday, mayoral candidate Miguel del Valle was campaigning on the streets of Lincoln Square and entered the bar as Alderman Bus was being introduced.

This made for some spontaneous fun between two Chicago heavyweights. One real.

The alderman has a busy week. Two more videos (including a press conference at City Hall) are coming out this week. The week ends with two shows at the Gallery Cabaret appropriately titled, “The Alderman Ed Bus Victory Party.”
