Join us on Monday, February 23rd at 7:30pm on the main stage of Chicago’s historic Chopin Theater for PleasureTown Live!, the second in a series of live WBEZ podcast tapings.
The Feast of the Wretched was a holiday invented in PleasureTown. The purpose of the feast was to choose, and figuratively face a past enemy/abuser/foe/etc, and ceremoniously remove the power said foe held over you. This was accomplished by creating a totem of the foe, imagining a dark and painful history for the foe, then ultimately tossing the totem into a large fire, which was built by the town. This live event will feature stories from this holiday, as well as live music and theatrical performances.
