The release of the video showing the death of LaQuan McDonald cost the police superintendent his job and incited protests calling for the Mayor to resign. Some of the protesters have also called into question the way the Chicago Police Department trains its officers, as well as its protocol for how officers should engage with the public when they’re out on calls. So, what does that training entail? Here in Illinois, many police recruits are being trained at University of Illinois’ Police Training Institute.
