Police on bikes and in cars are patroling the 5700 block of S. Morgan St. a day after a 4 year old was shot in the back.

A woman who would only identify herself as Triana, says she’s the child’s aunt. She smokes a cigarette, sitting on the steps in front of the red brick two-flat where a bullet hole from a previous incident pierces a first-floor window.

Triana says she doubts police will solve the shooting of her nephew. Others in the neighborhood say the police presence is new and won’t last.

But Chicago police say they hope to work with community residents to solve the crime and prevent others.
