Two men are in custody and authorities are still searching for a third suspect after a shootout with Chicago police early this morning in the West Pullman neighborhood.

Police say officers near Halsted and 118th Street heard gunshots and responded on foot.

When they saw a group of people firing shots from inside a car, they announced themselves as cops and tried to intervene.

Chicago police Officer Ana Pacheco says at least one of the men in the car shot at the officers, prompting one of the officers to return fire.

The officer did not hit anyone.

The car then fled westbound before crashing near Pulaski in suburban Alsip.

Three people in the car got out and tried to run. Two of them were caught.

Police did not have a description of the third man who is still on the run.

No officers were injured. One of the men in the car was shot in the leg.
