Despite its name, Pop Up Magazine is not a magazine. It’s a live show that behaves like a magazine. It has contributors who report their own stories about science, music, politics, film, literature and other topics. But the storytelling itself is done in front of an audience, with live music, visual aids, and more. After years of selling out venues mostly in its native San Francisco, Pop Up Magazine is on a national tour that’s coming to Chicago for the first time on Oct. 27. Pat Walters, senior editor of Pop Up Magazine tells us more about the show and we hear from one of the featured contributors, Jon Mooallem.
