According to 2013 Census numbers, there were over 45 million Americans living in poverty at the time. Poverty occurs in big cities, suburbs, small towns, Indian reservations. Scratch away at the numbers and you’ll find individuals. Each person experiences deprivation in their own unique way. Artists taking part in a newly opened exhibition presented by David Weinberg Photography are exploring that diversity and reveal the issue’s core complexity. It’s called An Invisible Hand, and it combines sculpture, photography, video and audio pieces by nine artists who’ve worked to convey poverty in all of its intricacies and disparities. It’s up through July 25 and we’re joined by the space’s owner David Weinberg and the exhibit’s curator Meg Noe. (Orly Telisman Public Relations)
