The DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago is on track to become the largest museum of its kind outside Washington D.C. The DuSable is making the historic Roundhouse building across the street an extension of the main museum—They opened a new patio next to the Roundhouse on Friday. President and CEO Perri Irmer says the museum’s work to eradicate racism and intolerance is more important than ever. Irmer says they are already using the Roundhouse to host art installations for the Chicago Expo. She says she hopes the Roundhouse will be ready for exhibitions from the museum by 2019.
