About 300 vessels expect to take sail this weekend for the annual Chicago Race to Mackinac.

It follows a 333-mile course to Michigan.

The prize is a plaque, a flag and, most important, bragging rights.

Last year – and for several of the years prior – those bragging rights went to a 38-foot Australian-made boat named The Eagle

Chicago Sun-Times staff writer Mike Thomas recently spent some time on board to watch her crew in action.
