The Cubs and the Cardinals are one of the great rivalries in sports…although it hasn’t been much of a rivalry lately. The Cards have 11 World Series championships, and they’ve been in the playoffs 12 out of the last 16 seasons. The Cubs…well…Theo Epstein has been trying to build a powerful, self-sustaining franchise over the last four years, and his young players are knocking on the Cardinals’ “door of dominance.” On Friday, Chicago Public Radio made a friendly wager with St. Louis Public Radio over who would win this series. If the Cards take it, our CEO agreed to send the folks in St. Louis some delicious Lou Malnati’s deep dish. And, if the Cubs take the series, WBEZ staffers will be chowing down on barbecue from Pappy’s Smokehouse in St. Louis. Here at the Morning Shift, now that the series is tied 1-to-1, we thought we’d up the ante, talk show to talk show. We speak with talk show producer Alex Heuer, who works on the program St. Louis on the Air.
