As part of a 10-month investigation two reporters at the Chicago Tribune have discovered an alarming spike in traffic tickets handed out by red light cameras at 12 specific intersections in the city. Nearly 13,000 tickets were given as a result of cameras which, until recently, saw far less action. Thus far the city has no explanation for the ticketing uptick. Joining the Afternoon Shift to discuss is David Kidwell, an investigative reporter for the Tribune who broke this morning’s story, along with fellow reporter Alex Richards.
