Remaking the Chicago River

Three new high-rise buildings are going up at the Y split in the River in the West Loop that will have a dramatic impact on what people see when they’re near the water. The architecture at the sites is significant, and so is the engineering. One of the buildings is being constructed with a massive crane that had to be floated up the South Branch of the river, and all three projects are precisely placed to squeeze in next to the river and existing rail lines.
