Chicago is known for its theater, but not for its vibrant filmmaking culture. Worldview is introducing a series of interviews with the filmmakers who want to make Chicago stand out on the global film scene. Michael Glover Smith is a Chicagoan whose third film opens in theaters Friday. It’s called Rendezvous in Chicago, and it tells the stories of three separate romantic relationships—one on a first date, another in its middle stages, and a third during a messy breakup. The film is Smith’s first foray into comedy. Smith joins WBEZ film contributor Milos Stehlik to discuss writing, casting, and directing the film. Also joining the conversation is actor and director Clare Cooney, who played one of the characters in the film’s first episode.
