City Colleges of Chicago cooked its books — bestowing thousands of unearned degrees and dropping the number of hours needed to earn a degree — according to a recent report from the Better Government Association released in conjunction with Crain’s Chicago Business.

The report suggests the intention was to make the Mayor and his marketing team look good.

The CCC is also dealing with other challenges, including a seven-year decline in enrollment, continued fallout from last year’s faculty vote of no confidence in its now-ex-chancellor, and lagging revenue due to the state’s budget crisis.

Chancellor Juan Salgado joins Morning Shift to discuss the claims and provide his take on the state of City Colleges.
