Chicago residents are trying to figure out what to do about the pesky problem of rats in the city. 

The city has seen a 28% increase in complaints about rodents compared to this time last year.

Logan Square had one of the highest volumes of complaints, and resident Maggie Pagan said her block club is ready to make getting rid of rats a top priority. 

“We call ourselves ‘The Rat Pack’ because it’s just become such an increasing problem in our community. I mean, we have all these issues of violence and burglery and things like that, but this problem with the rats is a real serious annoyance and it really is limiting us from coming out and enjoying the outdoors,” said Pagan.  

Pagan has organized a meeting for residents next week to discuss the problem with representatives from the Department of Streets and Sanitation. Pagan recommends everyone seal their garbage bins tightly and that pet owners clean-up after their pets.
