Around a thousand area residents weighed in Tuesday night about potential plans for the Obama Library on Chicago’s South Side. The city’s park district hosted the first of two forums on using parts or all of Washington or Jackson parks for the presidential library campus. People were limited to about two minutes to make their case for or against the use of parkland. Before the hearing, a group of activists staged a “die in” outside Hyde Park Academy. They held signs and called for the University of Chicago, which is proposing the use of public park space, to invest in a trauma center.
