Earlier this month, Philippine police were ordered to rejoin the War on Drugs. Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte overturned his own decision from two months ago to leave the campaign in the hands of the government’s anti-drug agency. Duterte had removed police from anti-drug operations following criticism after thousands of suspects were killed in his anti-drug crackdown.

Jerome McDonnell spoke with Bishop Reuel Norman Marigza, General Secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. He’s also part of a coalition of more than 200 civil society leaders in the Philippines calling themselves the Movement Against Tyranny, who have been speaking out against the War on Drugs there.
