Last week, the Morning Shift talked with journalist Dan Weigel about the “white nationalist” movement known as the Alt-Right. Since then, several major media outlets including the Associated Press and NPR, have told their reporters and anchors that descriptions or explanations of the movement and its beliefs should accompany the use of the term “Alt-Right”.
With the battle over the semantics in full swing, we thought we’d re-play part of that conversation with Dan Weigel. He talks about why he continues to use the term Alt-Right, but begins by trying to explain what adherents to the movement believe to be the differences between white supremacy and white nationalism.
