Russia announced a plan to expel most U.S. diplomatic officials from its territory after the U.S. Congress passed a sanctions bill targeting Russians who have bank accounts and properties in the U.S. The bill is expected to be signed by President Trump in a move that the administration hopes will quell suspicion that his campaign and administration has been colluding with the Russian government.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and Russia have been conducting military drills over Lithuania, a NATO member, and Belarus, a neighboring country highly dependent on Russia.
