The guys at Schwa definitely operate on a different plane. They don’t employ a reservationist, they serve the food themselves while rock & roll blasts from the speakers and despite the high-end (and deliciously creative food), they don’t have a liquor license. It seems they take the same approach to doing/not doing charity events.

While nearly all of their colleagues in town show up at least once or twice a year on the charity circuit, dishing out small bites from the restaurant to “grazing” guests, Michael Carlson and Co. prefer to stay out of the limelight.

That is, unless you’re the Redmoon Theater.

The reason Schwa has been closed over the past three days is because Carlson and his team have been preparing to cook at the local theater company’s big fundraiser tomorrow night, the Spectacle Lunatique.

Apparently they’re such big fans of what Redmoon does, they’re going to be serving more than just the usual one or two-bite snack at the event, and are reportedly making up to four various courses for guests.

On top of that, Carlson is offering a couple of gifts to the highest silent auction bidders. One is a meal cooked in your home for up to 10 guests; the other, take over Schwa for a night and have him cook for you and 13 of your friends. Should be an interesting auction.
