This year the film The Breakfast Club celebrates its 30th anniversary. Like other movies directed by John Hughes from that period-think Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Pretty In Pink-the characters try to navigate through the emotional and physical stresses of their teenage years and try to make sense of their relationships with friends, parents and the crazy universe of high school. Hughes made that happen through his scripts, his actors’ performances, and especially through the music he chose for the soundtracks. The music in these films are the quintessential sounds of the ‘80s. That’s where Sound Opinions comes in. Sound Ops goes to the movies again Wednesday, April 22, for a screening of the film at the Music Box Theatre.
