According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 60 million Americans speak a language other than English at home. But more than 231 million people speak only English, and don’t know any other language well enough to communicate in it. In a special podcast episode of Here & Now, co-host Jeremy Hobson does a deep dive into how Americans learn and use languages other than English.
