About 49,000 people will be back on Illinois’ health insurance marketplace Tuesday. That’s because Land of Lincoln Health co-op is shutting down. It was a state-approved insurer that collapsed. Alexandra Eidenberg with the organization Insurance People helps connect residents with a policy. She says without Land of Lincoln, there’s less competition in the market, and that can be dangerous. Special enrollment for former Land of Lincoln customers lasts until the end of September. New policies will take effect October 1.
