State Police Probe Two Shootings By Troopers In Chicago

Illinois State Police officials are investigating separate Chicago shootings by troopers in recent days.

The first was last Saturday on the South Side. Officials say troopers fired on a vehicle whose driver was trying to run a trooper over. Some of the shots hit the driver, a 15-year-old who allegedly had stolen the vehicle at gunpoint.

The second shooting was Thursday night in Chinatown, where a trooper injured two taxi passengers allegedly armed with a gun.

Unlike the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois State Police has no policy against firing at, or into, vehicles.
