Alejandra Cano was born in Chile, but grew up in Chicago. In the 1970s, Cano’s parents fled from the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile and brought her to the United States. A few months ago, Cano joined Nestor Gomez at the StoryCorps booth in Chicago, where she talked about her recent troubles with the immigration system.

You can hear more from Alejandra on the podcast Immigration Stories with Nestor Gomez.

This interview was facilitated by StoryCorps Chicago’s Rocio Santos.
