In 1990, Judy Presta and Mark Geraci met through mutual friends. They started dating and eventually got married. They wanted to have kids, but had some difficulty getting pregnant, so they tried in vitro fertilization (IVF). They spoke with each other about their experiences with infertility when they came to StoryCorps in May.

The recording was made by StoryCorps Chicago in partnership with Georgetown University’s American Pilgrimage Project and the Invisible Institute in Chicago.

StoryCorps’ mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to share, record and preserve their stories. These excerpts, edited by WBEZ, present some of our favorites from the current visit, as well as from previous trips.
