Makinde Adedapo grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but he’s connected to a cultural identity that stretches all the way to West Africa. Makinde’s father is a priest in the Yoruba religion, which has its roots in Nigeria. For StoryCorps, Makinde spoke with his father about reclaiming this piece of their heritage. Baba Ifatunji found Yoruba culture as an adult.
