Chicago high school students rallied for the state to provide more money to public schools.

State Senator Kimberly Lightford was on-hand to call for a new way of funding education in the state.

Lightfoot says, “It’s time for us to stand up as the true leaders we are in Illinois and make a hard stance on how we change our formula to fund our system.” She adds, “It’s an outdated, constitutional formula that was drafted decades ago.”

A spokesperson from the governor’s office says Blagojevich has raised $2.3 billion in new funding for public schools in the past three years.
