CHICAGO (AP) — A suburban Chicago real estate executive has been charged with attempting to hire a hit man to kill an attorney involved in litigation against him.

The U.S. attorney’s office announced Wednesday that Lyle Anastos of Oak Lawn was arrested Tuesday and charged with using interstate commerce in the commission of murder for hire. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey T. Gilbert ordered the 35-year-old Anastos held for a Friday detention hearing.

Anastos is accused of seeking the murder of an attorney representing the husband of Anastos’ grandmother in several cases filed against him. The attorney helped secure judgments against Anastos totaling more than $900,000 for the grandmother’s husband.

Prosecutors say Anastos is heard on a recording agreeing to pay $10,000 to murder the attorney and his grandmother’s husband.

It wasn’t immediately known if Anastos has legal representation.
