There was a time when home buyers seeking to settle in the suburbs were looking at properties far from urban centers, neighborhoods that required driving to work, the grocery store and restaurants. That concept has shifted as many developers-and suburban residents-are flocking to suburbs that share qualities with urban centers-walkability, retail mixed with housing and access to public transportation.
