Fishing guide/filmmaker Mark Titus caught the angler bug when he was about four years old and fell in love with salmon fishing. Along the way, he learned why wild salmon populations plummeted in his native Pacific Northwest and decided to embark on a journey to discover where the fish have gone and what might bring them back. In his documentary The Breach, Titus unravels a trail of human hubris, historical amnesia and potential tragedy looming in Alaska – all conspiring to end the most sustainable wild food left on the planet. The film screens Sunday at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Mark Titus joins the Morning Shift to talk about his hopes for the salmon and what others are doing to keep the species alive in the wild.
