On Monday President Barack Obama signed an executive order directing the U.S. to provide some factions of the Syrian opposition with aid and training to deal with any potential future chemical weapons attacks. France and the United States still insist that a military option remains on the table in Syria if the Assad regime does not turn over its chemical weapons. Both countries are also pushing for a U.N. resolution to include harsh punishment for the Syrian regime should it fail to live up to its end of the bargain. In the meantime, the main Syrian opposition coalition has elected Ahmad Tomeh as its new provisional prime minister. Mazen Asbahi, president of the Syrian Support Group, an expat organization that supports the revolution in Syria, tells us what he thinks the latest developments mean for the Syrian opposition.
