Tamara Sharifov is a Chicago-based licensed social worker (LSW). She specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, suicidality, and mental health with adolescents and adults. She’ll tell us about the harrowing experience of witnessing the U.S. bombardment of Syria in April 2018, while doing mental health work for refugees and humanitarian workers, as a SAMS volunteer in refugee settlements on the Syria/Lebanon border. The settlements were known as “widow camps” because the men were either killed in conflict, disappeared or imprisoned.
