Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl, is inspired by the true story of transgender pioneer Lili Elbe, one of the first people known to have received sex reassignment surgery. The movie tells the story of the marriage of Elbe played by Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and her wife, Gerda Wegner, played by Alicia Vikander. Film contributor Milos Stehlik sat down with Vikander to discuss the film and her career. She started by explaining why the Gerda character called to her.
