‘The Iron Ministry’ explores China’s railways
China’s train system is the largest in the world, and carried a whopping 1,060 billion passengers in 2013. Unsurprisingly, the railway system is used in a variety of ways, and filmmaker J.P. Sniadecki spent three years trying to film them all. The result was a documentary called ‘The Iron Ministry,’ which debuts at Facets here in Chicago this weekend. Film contributor Milos Stehlik and Sniadecki, a film professor at Northwestern University, joins us today to discuss his film, and the intricacies of China’s vast railways.
