Shimon Peres, the former presidentand prime minister, spent more than 60 years in Israeli public life. He was one of the last leaders with ties to the founding of the country. Peres held numerous government positions, was one of the architects of Israel’s nuclear program and shared a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the Oslo Accords. We’ll recall his role in Israeli history with Jane Eisner, editor-in-chief of The Forward.
