Environmentalists have filed a legal complaint against four Illinois coal plants. The Illinois EPA said it has also sent violation notices about contaminated groundwater to the plants owned by Midwest Generation in Joliet, Pekin, Will County and Waukegan.

Tsegaye Kebede saw a few Ethiopian flags as he approached the finish line and figured he’d say hello. So he started waving. Kebede had plenty to celebrate in his course-record win Sunday in the Chicago Marathon.

Tuesday, partly sunny and breezy but mild, highs in the upper 60s. Tuesday night it’s really going to cool down with some showers likely, lows in the mid 30s in the outlying areas to mid 40s downtown. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
