Illinois election officials Monday morning are expected to boot four presidential candidates from the November ballot.

Mark Kirk’s office said the Illinois Republican is “eager to return to the United States Senate as soon as possible.” The freshman senator suffered a stroke six months ago Saturday.

Chicago food truck owners could be allowed to cook on their trucks soon.The full City Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a new food truck ordinance to replace the existing one. Under the current ordinance, food can be made in a licensed kitchen off-site, then stored and sold on mobile food trucks.

And your WEATHER for today: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Really hot, highs in the upper 90s. Peak afternoon heat index readings 101 to 106 with some wind. Then tonight, chance of showers and thunderstorms early in the evening, probably continuing overnight. lows in the upper 70s but pretty muggy.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy, showers likely with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, highs in the mid 80s. chance of rain 60 percent. Then Tuesday night, mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, lows in the lower 70s.
