Daley Plaza was filled with people in red shirts Monday, carrying signs that read “Fair Contract Now” and “Parents and Teachers United.” Parents, teachers and labor groups joined in support of the Chicago Teachers Union in its testy negotiations with Chicago Public Schools.  

Illinois Democrats take center stage this week at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. For delegate Moises Garcia, it’s a first and one that brings a lot of satisfaction.

Highs in the upper 80s except lower 80s near the lake. Some winds throughout the day. Then tonight, partly cloudy, lows near 70 except lower 70s downtown.
