Chinese president Xi Jinping has met with Russian president Vladimir Putin 38 times in recent years, more than with any other head of state. But so far, China has remained somewhat neutral on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, abstaining from a UN vote that condemned the invasion and called for a withdrawal and authorizing some humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
