Australian Andrew Leigh, an economics professor by trade, says he believes deeply in the egalitarian principles at the heart of Australian society. He says he decided the best way to work for equality in his country would be to run for elective office. Leigh now serves as a member of parliament for Australia’s Labor Party. He’ll share his views with us on income disparity, Australia’s egalitarian history and how we should use technology for the betterment of all. Leigh writes frequently about how technology can both uplift and suppress equality in today’s world and he’s in Chicago to present a lecture at Northwestern University titled, ‘Humans Need Not Apply: Will the Robot Economy Pit Entrepreneurship Against Equality?‘.
