The United States resettled 359 Syrian refugees in 2013 and 2014, but is preparing for thousands more in the next few years. All the refugee resettlement organizations in Illinois are getting ready for the new Syrian influx while also facing proposed state budget cuts by Governor Rauner. These include cuts in funding for immigrant reintegration programs. Refugee One is one of the major refugee resettlement organizations in the Chicago area. Executive Director Melineh Kano joins us to talk about the Syria situation and the budget cuts.
