What do you get when you put 26 students and nine teachers from 10 different Chicago public high schools on a stage together? If you guessed Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, you’d be right. Now in its 9th year, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater just finished its annual “CPS Shakespeare!” program, which brings together CPS students from across the city to perform the works of the famous playwright. The group just received the prestigious National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award at a ceremony with First Lady Michelle Obama. They’re fresh off the plane from Washington D.C. and talk about the award and what it means.
