Pending city permit approval, Avec is slated to open next Thursday or Friday, the 21st or 22nd.  There aren’t going to be a ton of obvious changes, mainly some internal alterations involving the vent for the hood.

Katrina Markoff tells me that she’s about to open up another kiosk of her Vosges chocolates, this one inside Terminal 3 at ORD, near the split inside the hallways for American Airlines. She already has one in United’s Terminal 1, and continues to operate retail stores in New York City, Las Vegas, and her flagship on Armitage and Sheffield. “Should be done by the first part of next week. We’re just waiting on some final paperwork,” she said.

If dinner service seems a little slow tonight, it’s probably because your chef is at Macy’s.  More than 70 of the nation’s top chefs (mostly from Chicago) will be cooking up a storm for Meals on Wheels tonight, taking over the entire 9th floor - as opposed to previous years on the 7th floor, where guests had to squeeze in around a tighter perimeter in the food court.  Tickets are just about sold out for the $300 sit-down, but there are still tickets available for the $100 walk-around tasting/drinking/dancing/casino.
