So you might know Chicago as the home of the blues and deep dish pizza but did you know it’s also a capital of dance innovation? It’s OK if you didn’t. Neither did WBEZ reporter Monica Eng until she dug into the topic for Curious City. The question comes from some teens on the Northwest Side, and it turns out that more than a dozen dances were created in Chicago, including the Cha Cha Slide, the Polka Hop and Steppin’. Morning Shift talks to Monica Eng about the dances and their origin stories.
