On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, announced that President Trump would revoke security clearance from former CIA director John Brennan. Sanders argued that Brennan’s outspoken criticism of the administration, as well as allegations of inconsistent testimony, was “wholly inconsistent with access to the nation’s most closely-held secrets.” In an op-ed in today’s New York Times, Brennan doubled-down on his belief that the Trump administration colluded with Russian officials for an advantage in the 2016 Presidential elections. “Russian denials are, in a word, hogwash,” wrote Brennan. “Mr. Trump clearly has become more desperate to protect himself and those close to him, which is why he made the politically motivated decision to revoke my security clearance in an attempt to scare into silence others who might dare to challenge him” he continued.
